The three flows of compassion
Compassion has three directions.
You will have already indirectly experienced the three flows of compassion during the exercises you've done, but here we'll reflect on them more deeply and explore how they often occur at the same time.
Take a look below at the three flows of compassion.
1. Receiving compassion from others
2. Giving compassion to others
3. Giving ourselves compassion
Reflect...
There might be various enablers and barriers to each of the three flows. Have a think about what yours might be.
In other words, what enables you to experience these three flows, and what stops you from experiencing them?
Enter your responses in your Reflective Journal and paste them below if you'd like your facilitators to see.
You could write these in dot point form.

One of the flows might be more difficult than the others. This is very common and by working through all three together, we can really strengthen the one we feel is weaker.

2. Giving compassion to others
3. Giving ourselves compassion
